GWR Project at the School Science and Technology Fair

The GWR Project was invited to the science and technology fair organized by the Centenario School in Maipú. The fair was aimed at children from kindergarten to fifth grade and aimed to stimulate curiosity and interest in knowledge.

During the event, GWR Project scientists Dr. Esteban Quijada and Arael Alfonso explained to attendees how gray water treatment technologies help the planet by reducing drinking water consumption.

The stand showcased a sand filter and an electrochemical reactor that remove most contaminants from gray water. This makes the water suitable for reuse in non-consumptive activities, such as watering gardens, washing cars, and flushing toilets.

The children asked the researchers many questions, demonstrating their awareness that climate change is putting a strain on the planet and that water is a scarce resource that must be cared for.

But it wasn't just the children who were interested. Several parents accompanying their children to the science fair also visited the stand, mostly to learn how to install a domestic graywater treatment system in their homes.

The fair showcased scientific projects developed by students, including domestic water purification filters and solar ovens, among many others.
