GWR Project participated in the "Park to Park" civic event.

In Santa Monica Park in Recoleta, one of Parquemet's "Park to Park" civic activities took place, where the GWR project presented gray water reuse technologies and sustainable social housing.

A 3D printed model was used to present, for the first time in a public event, the sustainable social housing that houses the grey water treatment and reuse systems developed by the GWR project. The exhibition took place as part of the "Park to Park" civic action, in which Parquemet invites people to enjoy the capital's green spaces, while having fun with their families, learning about science and interacting with public services.

The GWR project stand was located in the "Vive la Ciencia" area, together with other applied science initiatives for sustainability. Postdoctoral students Simón Faba and Arael Alonso were in charge of explaining to the public the benefits of reusing domestic grey water and how the treatment systems installed in the sustainable social housing under construction at the CTEC Technology Park in the Carén Lagoon work.

"Domestic gray water can be treated by separating oils, fats, detergents and other impurities, processes that make it possible to obtain clean water suitable for reuse in toilet flushing, car washing, irrigation of green walls and ornamental plants," explains Arael Alonso.

According to the postdoctoral student, "the energy consumption represented by the treatment process is self-sufficient with solar panels, so it is also an energy-efficient house, which also has the advantage of thermal insulation, thanks to the green roofs and walls".
